Homecoming / End Times

“Look, he is coming with the clouds,” and “every eye will see him, even those who pierced him”… (Revelation 1:7).

If Jesus was to come tomorrow, would you be ready to receive him?

Many of us are not ready to receive the Messiah because we haven’t achieved our relationship/career/financial goals. We have forgotten the fact that we are only temporary residents here on earth. All the baes, jobs and money in the bank are temporary but we often idolise these things and lose sight of God.

God placed us on earth for a purpose. It is not a crime to set goals and enjoy the things of the world (within reason), however we need to constantly bear in mind that we were ultimately created for Gods glory.

Isaiah 43:7:

Bring all who claim me as their God, for I have made them for my glory. It was I who created them“.

We were not just placed here to go about our business, when the Lord knit us together in our mother’s womb he placed different gifts and talents inside of us. (Psalms 139:13; Romans 12: 4-8).  We can glorify God by using our gifts and talents to serve others.

Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19).

He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. (Matthew 9:37).

We have work to do in preparation of Jesus’ return. Yes, we have bills, families to feed etc. but our lives and our mission don’t have to be separate. As a matter of fact, they should be intertwined. We come into contact with new people every day and it is our duty to share Gods love with them. You don’t have to bible bash people to share Jesus with them. Love on them, encourage them and support them through their struggles. Most importantly, we need to live by example. It is easy to preach the good news but it is not always as easy to live out the gospel.

1 Peter 2:12:

“Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbours. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honourable behaviour, and they will give honour to God when he judges the world. “

Many of us know we are not living a life that pleases the Lord and we are not ready to receive the Messiah because of this.

‘’I know I shouldn’t be living like this but I’m young’’

‘’I’ll do God’s work when I am older’’

This attitude is no good because the world is in turmoil, there are so many broken people out there that have lost all hope. We have a duty to these people and we do not have unlimited time.

Jesus could come back at any time, so it’s important for us to stay focused on our mission. The scriptures say “Your troops will be willing on your day of battle” (Psalms 110:3), we need to stay ready.

No one knows when the time will come so we should not take the time we have on earth for granted.

“So you, too, must keep watch! For you don’t know what day your Lord is coming. Understand this: If a homeowner knew exactly when a burglar was coming, he would keep watch and not permit his house to be broken into. (Matthew 24:42-43)

Amen. Needed these words!
